Lim Kit Siang’s Pakatan Harapan deluded themselves into believing that a tag team consisting of Tun Mahathir and Datuk Anwar Ibrahim with him (Kit Siang) pulling the strings would be all that it would take to unseat Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and eventually capture Putrajaya following GE14.
Pakatan Harapan believed that that Malaysians would perceive this as a dream scenario while forgetting what had taken place between the two (2) men some years ago.
The problem is in order to effectively have a tag team, both men should be on equal footing. And unless Anwar Ibrahim has a secret tunnel in Sungei Buloh where he can leave at will, he’ still a prisoner.
Therefore all of the hoopla (again) over bygones being bygones, burying the hatchet and water under the bridge is mentioned over and over again with the hope that Malays will buy into the hype.
In addition, how can you have a tag team when one of the two thinks the other is an immoral person and should not be in a position to lead the nation. Or is morality an issue that Tun Mahathir will gladly put to the side, if by doing so he can broker a deal to help his son (Mukhriz) get into the political leadership race.
Now it appears the not only will Anwar’s taste for male companionship be put to the side, but you have Pakatan Harapan saying that Tun Mahathir should not be judged.
This almost seems like a quid pro quo; you don’t hold my transgression against me and I will not hold yours against you! They are doing this while preaching Bersih!
However all the so called feel good antics which Lim Kit Siang and Pakatan Harapa have choreographed does not a political campaign make. There has to be a strategy in place that goes beyond Tun Mahathir and Anwar Ibrahim agreeind to shake hands and to turn a blind eye to each other’s trangressions.
Additionally, Tun Mahathir beating to death an issue like 1MDB may have produced results in the past, but in this technological arena that we are now living, Tun Mahathir no longer controls the narrative.
So what is the intrinsic value Pakatan Harapan has with the socalled teaming of Tun Mahathir and Anwar Ibrahim?
If one looks at the results of the previous elections in Sarawak, Kuala Kangsad and Sungei Besar then it is apparent that the only thing Lim Kit Siang can hope to gain is Malays screwing Malays.
Why? If nothing those three (3) elections have produced zilch then one can expect the same results as the players (Tun Mahathir and Anwar Ibrahim) are the same.
What it comes down to is this; Pakatan Harapan doesnt need Mahathir or Anwar; they need a game plan and right now they seem more concerned over cliff than substance.
