After Mukhriz was removed as the Kedah Menteri Besar, his father Tun Mahathir gave the excuse of being too busy with planning his coup or efforts to remove Prime Minister Datuk Najib Razak as the reason why he could not save his son from the inevitable. (here)
After all with Tun trying to place Mukhriz in the position to become Prime Minister certainly outweighed any extra effort required to keep him (Mukhriz) secured as Menteri Besar. Mahathir probably thought that he had enough human assets in place to assure that his son Mukhriz was as snug as a bug in rug as Kedah Menteri Besar.
The problem with human assets, they can recognize the sun rising over Najib while it all but set over Tun Mahathir. And the problem with being a bug in the rug; bugs get squashed or in Mukhriz’ case they first get removed from office then you squash their political dreams and replace it with a nightmare.
We can almost see the same scenario being played out with Lim Guan Eng.
The elder Lim has snuggled up so close to Tun Mahathir that he may have forgotten that at some point next year (2017) his son Lim Guan Eng may be convicted of a crime.
Perhaps daddy Lim believes Lim Kit Siang believes that his son is more than capable of talking himself out the quagmire that he has got himself in. (here)
Another possibility may orbit around what Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) had written (11 December 2017) in his blog Malaysia Today.
In his blog post titled..
“KIT SIANG PREFERS BOBOI TO ANWAR AS PM”
RPK writess that Tun Mahathir and Lim Kit Siang had brokered a deal whereupon if the some quirk in the universe DAP-led Pakatan Harapan win the 14th general election Mahathir would receive the DAP’s support for his son Mukhriz to become Prime Minister and Lim Kit Siang would (if Tun Mahathir keeps his promise) become Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister. (Read it here)
There are those who believe that Lim Kit Siang had aspirations for his son to one day become deputy Prime Minister. However with junior Lim’s legal troubles, senior Lim may be thinking that this is his last chance to being at the near the helm of the nation?
He may even justify not going all out to help his son by thinking…
‘Let Lim Guan Eng due a little time, he’s young enough to still run for office when he gets out’ or some words to that effect.
Whichever the case with elder Lim; he seems to be following the same course of non action in helping his son (Lim Guan Eng) as Mahathir had taken with respect to helping his; and we have all seen how well that turned out for ‘Boboi!
