Prior to yesterday’s election and during the early voting the political pundits thought that Clinton was President Barrack Obama’s heir apparent. Even the Presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke as if it would be clear sailing to The White House.
She (Hillary Clinton) like those in the DAP led Pakatan Harapan believed that the individual they were actively demonizing in the media (Trump and Prime Minister Najib Razak respectively) would be so damaged by the various attacks, the rakyat would never entertain the thought of giving that individual the confidence of their vote.
As it turned out, nothing could have been further from the truth as Clinton learned before the final votes were tallied. Hillary Clinton like Pakatan Harapan counted on the emotional appeal to seal the deal with the voters while Donald Trump preached the message of making the USA great again. His striking the right cord made it possible for him to come from an underdog position and carry the majority of the Electoral College votes.
When one takes into account the ongoing slanderous campaign Pakatan Harapan has waged against Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib Razak, one can see an eerie similarity between Hillary Clinton’s campaign and that of Pakatan Harapan. Namely, trying as much as possible to put the opponent in a bad light while painting themselves ( in this case Pakatan Harapan) as spotless.
But the problem with all the opposition noise is that it’s all sizzle and no steak!
The result is the rakyat is left hungry. They are hungry for ideas, solutions and substance; none of which has come forth from Pakatan Harapan.
Pakatan Harapan believes that an emotional appeal is enough in lieu of any real substance. In other words they have taken the rakyat for granted for so long that they (Pakatan Harapan) now believe that they do not have to develop any type of national strategy; all they have to do is keep the negativity flowing in the direction of the Prime Minister and that would more than suffice.
However, as Hillary Clinton can personally attest, believing you are appealing to the masses and actually appealing to them are two (2) different animals. She learned this lesson the hard way; never count your chickens before hatch.
Hillary Clinton no doubt woke up the day after the election with the same bewilderment running through her mind that Pakatan Harapan had in theirs as a result of what happened in the same over the last thee (3) elections held in Malaysia.
Conversely, the Prime Minister realizes the importance of staying actively engaged so as to attract what Malaysia requires to sustain its growth. Najib stays engaged because in his words: ‘Don’t take voters for granted’ (here)
