Former deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has recently said that he is not afraid to fail. (here)
Given his political track record of late; there is no surprise to his admission.
If we look back over his history as deputy Prime Minister, we see a man who over the last couple of years in office who has appeared for lack of a better word; disconnected. When you observed him he seemed like he was just going through the motions. Of course Malaysians expect more of the leaders as they are servants of the people. It is the people who contribute in total or part to government worker’s salaries. As such, Malaysians expected more than Muhyiddin just showing up for work and reading news papers to learn what the issues are in and around Malaysia.
The expectations for the deputy in command are loftier as the one who is entrusted to that post is expected to be ready to serve at the nation’s leader if required. However, with Muhyiddin Yassin it seemed like he was sitting back waiting, hoping or expecting some event to take place which would place him in the top position. Perhaps he was told to keep his head low and bide his time as his day was coming.
Yes, his day came and he went or was sent right out of the door.
Muhyiddin Yassin’s failure as a deputy Prime Minister came as a result of his own actions or in his case inactions and attempts to show loyalty to Prime Minister Najib Razak while at the same time plotting to political dispose of the one he pretended to support. Ironically, Muhyiddin even failed in trying to pretend that he supported Najib.
Now the former deputy Prime Minister wants Malaysians to believe that he can somehow galvanize the DAP led Pakatan Harapan with PAS.
Apparently, Muhyiddin has not read in any of the newspapers where he gets his reports on how PAS was treated after they left their former partners. Or does Muhyiddin expect PAS to trust him after he has shown disloyalty to the head of the political party where he spent majority of his political career.
There is little doubt that Muhyiddin Yassin already knows that his effort to be a galvanizing force will even in failure as well. So it seems that the only reason that he is going through the motions is to keep his and the off the political radar political (Pribumi) party in the news.
Registering the (Pribumi) party seemed to have served as both a grand opening and grand finale all wrapped up into one big flop. And yes, the former deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is serving as the president of that failing experiment as well.
Therefore when Muhyiddin Yassin says he is not afraid to fail he is telling truth; his political record over the last couple of years is a testament of his epic failures!
