In what had to be a rare tongue in cheek moment for usually deadpanned former deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, he says that “Our party is so common. Umno shouldn’t be scared of us. We are like a mosquito party”
Muhyiddin Yassin goes on to mention how the newly formed party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) does not have the branches or the membership that UMNO has and therefore should not be perceived as a threat. (here)
It would seem that the pro-tem president Muhyiddin Yassin is overlooking that fact that not all mosquitoes are harmless to the public. Case in point the striped Aedes aegypti mosquito; on some levels they may appear harmless and cute, but you would not want one near you or those you care about. As we here in Malaysia know all to well that these small mosquitoes are responsible for the dengue virus is contracted as a result of their small bite.
One could easily say that it would be irresponsible for the government not to tell the rakyat about the dangers of Aedes political parties like ‘Parti Pribumi Bersatu’ as they do not want Malaysian society be affected by the virus which they (Party Pribumi Bersatu) is spreading.
We must say is spreading as the mischief which Tun Mahathir and his foot soldiers like Muhyiddin Yassin have been seeking to spread their virus’ of lies through sound bites for quite some time now.
The rakyat has even seen how the chief Aedes spreader Tun Mahathir had fallen victim to his own virus when he claimed that billions have vanished when it had not and that he had a million signatures when he did not. His rants were clear forms of delirium which maybe common in those who have advanced stages of the virus.
The former deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin goes on to suggest in his talk that UMNO must have a sense of insecurity for them to take swipes at this little mosquito party and that the little mosquito party should be given a chance. That is like asking the Olympic medalist Usain Bolt to take it easy and give the new runner a chance to cross the line first. Or to give the newly born Aedes mosquito time to continue to grow so that it can infect more people dengue.
Further to the point of insecurity; Mahathir and his ban of political outcasts are the same ones who could not help make a dent in recent elections when they were working hand in hand with the DAP, PKR and the other junior members of Pakatan Harapan so it is inconceivable that they could do much more on their own.
The sole raison d’être for Parti Pribumi Bersatu formation is to feign creating something for Malays. If an event were to take place which would shake up the top of their leadership structure you would see the remaining ‘leadership’ songkok in hand with heads bowed pleading to be allowed back in UMNO. You would also see the new party vanish quicker than a zapped mosquito if Mukhriz were offered a seat at the UMNO VP table and Muhyiddin Yassin back in the door. However, in any event neither scenario is likely to open the doors for the wayward politicians unless UMNO decides to forgive and forget and which has transpired over the last two (2) years.
So Muhyiddin Yassin should see things as they really are; UMNO isn’t afraid of mosquito parties; they are warning people about the dangers of Aedes!
