With Tun Mahathir, If It’s Not One Failed Crusade It’s Another!

Tribunal

There are some individuals who cannot seem to live life unless they are attempting to fix what they perceive is a problem.  The greater the issue the more they feel that they are the ones who can fix it.

Such is the saga of Tun Mahathir.  He seems to always seek out something which he can champion.  It seems like just a few years ago when Tun Mahathir convened a war crimes tribunal which was held at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC).  The purpose of the mock tribunal was to place George W. Bush and Tony Blair on trail for war crimes / crimes against humanity.  Of course neither former USA President George W. Bush nor former British Prime Minister Tony Blair were present and as a result were tried in absentia.

All though the reading of the charges and various speeches, there was never any doubt that both George W. Bush and Tony Blair would be found guilty.  For all means and purposes the entire tribunal was a show trail for the public and a sided income for those who collected their speaker’s fees.

Still, Tun Mahathir was happy because the event gave him a raison d’être as well as a chance to stay in the public’s eye albeit for a few days.

Having moved past show trail tribunals and the mystery surrounding September 11th; Tun Mahathir has in more recent times found his latest cause; the removal of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, the democratically elected leader of Malaysia.

For this cause he is especially motivated as he needed to remove the Prime Minister in order to position his son Mukhriz in position to be elected Prime Minister in or around 2020.  Or that is what he envisioned when he was still part of Umno.

What Tun Mahathir did not count on was the Prime Minister in his quiet demeanour being a very astute politician in his own right; a man who has absolutely no fear of Tun Mahathir or the Mahathir legacy prior to it becoming severely damaged.

Tun Mahathir thought that he could carry out another mock trail using the public as his jury to convict the Prime Minister in the court of Public opinion.

Tun Mahathir had no evidence but then again, that has never stopped him before.  He believed that his saying the Prime is guilty would be enough get the public to support his (Tun Mahathir) effort to force Prime Minister Najib Razak to step down from office.

Tun Mahathir came up (literally) with stories of vanishing money, money reducing in amount and then surpassing the original amount that was supposed to have been stolen and placed in the Prime Minister’s personal banking account.  When that failed to cause create any reaction from the public, Tun Mahathir instructed his lawyer to sue the Prime Minister.  If nothing else the public while feeling sad seeing Tun Mahathir fall to such a state of desperation still saw some humor in his actions.

Next was a cameo at Bersih 4, the ‘Citizen’s Declaration’ and Save Malaysia Rally.  Along the way he found out that he no longer had the fire power to go it alone so he climbed into bed with Pakatan Harapan and served as their icon until they (Pakatan Harapan) saw that they icon has been long gone and the only thing that remains is a shell of the many who was once Tun ‘M’.

Desperately needing a new cause, Tun Mahathir wants to convene yet another tribunal and invite foreign (friends) judges to come to Malaysia for the sole purpose of wanting to embarrass the Prime Minister while stroking his (Tun Mahathir’s) own ego.(here)

Unfortunately, Tun Mahathir is one of those sad individuals who that is not at peace unless he is involved with what he perceives is a crisis in which he can fix his way;  even when his way is contrary to the democratic process Malaysian’s value.
