Previously when Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak asked WSJ for proof over their claims of 1MDB impropriety, those like Lim Kit Siang claimed in other words that it was silly for Salleh to ask for proof! (here)
At that time those in the Opposition (DAP, PKR et al) believed ever thing the WSJ had written implying that Singapore bands were involved with unethical activity involving 1MDB.
As long as the WSJ’s report or any report for that matter pointed in the direction of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and 1MDB funds, then the Opposition lapped the WSJ’s stories up hook line and sinker. On the part of the Opposition, it did not matter the validity of the information as the information may have come more or less from one of their own sources!
Now you have Lim Kit Siang asking Prime Minister Najib Razak for his comments on the ‘corrected’ WSJ story when just ‘a few seconds ago’ he (Lim) was under the belief that the WSJ Singapore allegations were the gospel truth!
Lim should step back and think that if the Singapore allegations are not true, then isn’t it possible that given time the Switzerland allegations will be found to be false as well! (here)
But then again, the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar by-elections are just (June 18,2016) around the corner so the Opposition needs all the help that they can muster to put an election in the win column!
So to try and scratch out a win what the Opposition with the help of the WSJ is doing is playing a political shell game!
Here is a brief explanation for a ‘Shell Game’: It is a game involving sleight of hand, in which three inverted cups or nutshells are moved about, and contestants must spot which one has a pea or other object is underneath.
A further explanation states that it is almost always a confidence trick used to perpetrate fraud.
It is also a deceptive and evasive action or ploy, especially a political one!
The last line seems to be what is taking place with the Opposition along with the WSJ.
First, they want the rakyat to believe that Banks in Singapore are hiding 1 MDB funds now they have moved things around to get the rakyat to now believe that the funds were not in Singapore, but in Switzerland. As long as a new narrative is created they (Opposition) can keep the story fresh!
Tun Mahathir version of the shell game started when he first said that RM 46 billion of 1MDB funds had vanished then he said RM 2.6 billion of the fund found its way into the personal account of Prime Minister Najib Razak only to later say that even more money than he previously thought had been misappropriated!
As long as Tun Mahathir kept changing the amounts, he knew that the people would not see the truth that the Prime Minister was the PAC stated was not involved with any misappropriation of 1MDB funds!
The ‘Shell Game’ requires three (3) shells and the WSJ has already revealed two (2); Singapore and Switzerland. If they (WSJ) follows suit and stick with the letter ‘S’ then their next editorial correction will probably have the 1MDB funds located in some exotic location the Sudan!
In retrospect; with the most resent WSJ turn of events, there should be no surprise that Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak had asked the WSJ for proof as their sources for information are proving to be highly questionable!
