Former DPM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s Deadly Game of Russian Roulette!

The Political Game of Russian Roulette

For those who are not familiar with Russian Roulette here are the rules

  1. You place one bullet in a six chamber (gun) revolver.

  1. Spin the chamber.

  1. Point the barrel of the gun next to the side of your once sane head and pull the trigger.

If you hear a click repeat steps 2 and 3.

If you hear any sound other than a click, then all of your questions about the afterlife are about to be answered.

Much like gambling (because it is gambling with your life) I imagine Russian Roulette that there is some perverse thrill attached to playing Russian Roulette to see, if one can beat death.

I still  wonder how someone with so many things in their favor (family, reputation, life long friendships, career, wealth etc) could take part in or allow themselves to be roped into a game of Russian Roulette.

Which brings us to the former DPM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin recent suspension.

No matter how he tries to spin,  justify, give reasons for his actions; they all come down to his spinning the barrel to see if he could beat the click!

A statement here, ‘Click’.  A comment there, ‘Click’. A remark, a suggestion ‘Click’, ‘Click’.

With each statement (Click) made one could see a sense of confidence and invincibility growing in him.

Here was a man who believe the top prize was within his reach But… those last sounds heard were not clicks; they were the sounds of the inevitable, when one plays the game of Russian Roulette.

What the DPM failed to realize or has forgotten is that in the high stakes game of politics, there are just so many clicks before the next sound heard was not his body, but his political career hitting the floor.  It was written..

Pride comes before a fall‘.

So is there redemption?

Perhaps. If the former DPM comes to accept his suspension as only being a career flesh wound and becomes a servant in healing process to self and party then a restoration or recovery may still be possible in his future.

However, if the addiction to power and the thrill of the political game causes the former DPM in his weakened state to play Russian Roulette yet again, then there may be no recovery from the mortal wound his party inflicts on his once bright career!

A word to the wise; stop spinning the barrel and accept the self inflicted disciplinary action imposed.  Doing so will work to refine you as leader and define your legacy. Insya ALLAH
